I fought against this for a long time. I tried slings in all sorts of configurations. Nothing worked and they all felt weird on me. I’m not sure what it was. I always had a citadel on my back or within arms reach. That changed this spring. I had GWA make me a ROV sample. I had to try it once more. I took it on my trip to Iceland and I finally found the magic. Enough space for my glasses, gloves, and phone. It gave me so much more flexibility than I’m used to. Getting back to the bus on our tours it was so nice to have my stuff handy. In cramped seats it’s near impossible to empty my pockets. It also meant not carrying a full bag out of the bus and saved me a ton of effort walking around. Some of those hikes don’t quit.
To bring it up another level I looked at the strap. I love the modularity and adjustability but I need something new. This needs to be timeless, lasting, and be as tough as the fabric it supports. I upgraded to a 1” cotton webbing (which you’ll see again soon). Added two metal triglides. One to keep your length right and other to control the tail of the strap. A swiveling snap hook means you can always get that strap oriented just right. Each bag will come with one strap and two split bar D rings. Allowing you to configure the strap how it fits you best.
I’ve been waiting to make sets out of my bags, this presents my first opportunity to do. The ROV Deluxe features the same royal red lining as the Baron 2 in its front org pocket. Large enough to hold my iPhone Pro Max or keep your smaller items handy in a pinch.
